From the very beginning, Surge Recordings was shaped by free music and community-first releases, a launchpad for sharing dance floor focused edits and tracks without barriers. In that same spirit, the label re-emerges by going back to its roots.
Surge Recordings is an independent record label and events brand founded in Liverpool by EVANS, focused on underground house music rooted in groove, rhythm, and club functionality.
The word surge refers to
a sudden, powerful movement a moment of energy that pushes everything forward. That idea sits at the core of the brand: music built to move people, rooms and culture, without forcing momentum or chasing trends.
Built from the ground up over the past 6 years, Surge has grown in a city traditionally dominated by mainstream nightlife. Carving out its own lane through consistency, community, and a clear musical identity. From early free downloads that helped establish the brand, to vinyl and digital releases supported by selectors worldwide, Surge has always prioritised the dancefloor over trends.
Musically, Surge sits at the intersection of minimal, deep tech and house. Stripped-back, groove-led records designed for DJs and sound systems. The label has released music from artists such as Sidney Charles, Kolter, Oden & Fatzo, M-High and many more, amassing millions of streams across platforms while maintaining a strong underground ethos.
Every release is treated with intent: from artist selection and A&R, through to artwork, metadata, and long term catalogue consistency. Surge is not about chasing moments, it’s about building something that lasts.
Events & Global Reach
Alongside the label, Surge has hosted events across the UK and Europe, including shows at Toffler (Rotterdam), secret locations in Milan, and key Liverpool venues. Line-ups have consistently focused on musical quality and atmosphere, bringing together artists and crowds who value energy and connection over spectacle.
A New Chapter
After a brief pause to restructure and future-proof the brand, Surge Recordings is now entering its next chapter with a clearer long term vision led by EVANS. The focus is on sustainability, refined curation, and systems that allow the brand to grow organically without compromising its identity.
Surge exists for the people who feel that movement, the selectors, the dancers, and the communities that keep underground culture moving forward.
